Minefield card game
MADE BY JUDE FELSTEAD
The Setup
2 players. Take out all of the face cards and split them between 2 piles. Lay out a 6x3 grid of cards with
each of the piles, and 8 cards in your hand. If you have any face cards in your hand, put them back into the
deck and shuffle.
The Game
The goal of the game is to uncover the opponent’s face cards from their grid. Each card from your hand has an
ability to uncover cards from their grid. Red cards are “Flip cards” while black cards are “Ability” cards.
Use a flip card by placing it on top of a face down card from the opponent’s grid, and flipping both cards
over to show the card beneath. Take the opponent’s now flipped card into your hand. If it is a face card, put
it down on the table. Pick up 1 card at the end of each round.
Ability Cards
Each black card is an ability card.
-
(Ace) steal one face card from the opponents table.
-
Flip 2 cards and keep them.
-
Flip 3 cards and keep them. Also flip 1 of your own cards.
-
Flip 4 cards and keep them. Also flip 2 of your own cards.
-
Flip 5 cards and keep them. Also flip 3 of your own cards.
-
Flip 6 cards and do not keep them.
-
Flip 7 cards and do not keep them.
-
Flip 8 cards and do not keep them.
-
Flip 9 cards and do not keep them.
-
Flip 10 cards and do not keep them.
-
(Jack) Steal 2 cards from a player's hand
-
(Queen) Steal 3 cards from a player's hand
-
(King) Steal 4 cards from a player's hand
To use a face card (or an ace) as an ability card, pick it up from the table and discard it. This might not be a
good choice if you don't have many face cards.
The Endgame / Winning
The first person to get 5 more face cards than the other person wins. If you want a shorter game, go up to 3.
Enjoy!
