The Even Steven card game

MADE BY JUDE FELSTEAD

The Setup

For 2-4 player games, each player starts with seven cards in their hand and three unknown
cards face down on the table. For 4-8 player games, each player starts with four cards in
hand.

The Game

Your main playing cards are even and face cards, with the odd cards holding special abilities
. The play goes in a circle, starting with the person with the most cards in total. If
everyone has the same amount of cards, the person with the lowest even card starts. You play
in ascending order of even cards, (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, J, Q, K,) You may not play even cards
lower than the last played even card, only higher or equal. If you have no cards higher or
equal then the last played card, you have to blindly pick up and play a card from the deck.
If the card is higher or equal than the previous even, continue play. If it is lower, the
person who played the card picks the pile into their hand. If the pile has been terminated by
an A, or has been picked up by a player, all other players have to pick up cards until they
have the amount of cards picked up at the start of the game, minus one card for each round.
For a three player game, the order of picking up to, would be 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. (e.g. I
have 3 cards, and it is round 2. I have to pick up until I have 6 cards.) Never shuffle the
pick up pile.

The Odd

All odd cards (3, 5, 7, 9, A,) have special abilities. 3 (Skip) skips your turn, 5 (Plus)
adds +1 numerical value to the card directly below it, 7 (Steal) allows you to steal someone
else’s card, 9 (Reset) acts like a 2 that can be placed whenever, resetting the value back to
2, and A (Burn/Terminate) “burns/terminates” the pile, putting it at the bottom of the deck
and not shuffling. If you play a 7, and they have no cards in their hand, pick up one of the
3 face down cards into your hand.

Number Nickname Ability
3 Skip Skips your turn, acting as a wild card
5 Plus/Add Adds +1 value to the card directly under it.
7 Steal Allows you to steal a card from another player.
9 Reset Resets the number in the pile back to 2
A Burn/Terminate Put the pile at the bottom of the deck. Don't shuffle

The Endgame / Winning

After you play all of the cards in your hand, you pick one of the three face down cards to
play. If it is even and less than the last played even card, pick up the pile. If you play a
seven and they have no cards in their hand, pick up one of the 3 face down cards into your
hand. You win when you have no cards.

Enjoy!
